Scout Fynn joins the Centre for Creative Arts as a content developer for the Centre’s varied festivals, programmes, and social media platforms. Believing in the social and cultural impact of the arts, she will work extensively with the curatorial teams for the Time of the Writer festival and the Artfluence Human Rights festival to grow newer audiences and with a specific focus on inspiring dynamic audience engagement on the Centre’s social media platforms. She is passionate about the importance of making art that is accessible to everyone and preserving the rich storytelling histories in many South African communities. Scout is a graduate of The Market Theatre Laboratory with a credits list that has already positioned her as a notable young actor, writer, theatre maker, and curator. In 2019, she performed in two Naledi Award winning productions, “No Easter Sunday For Queers” directed by Mwenya Kabwe, and her class’s first year production of “Eclipsed” directed by Sylvaine Strike. In 2020, she performed and wrote her own monologue for the ensemble virtual performance “Blink” directed by fellow classmates Rethabile Headbush and Tshepo Matlala. In 2021, she co curated her first virtual festival on Facebook, “For The Fun Of It Fest” through her company BushBabies Inc and she participated in The Art Caves virtual monologue festival “Dikakanyo” with her piece “The Virtue Of A desperate Revelation” as part of the virtual fringe for National Arts Festival. In 2022, she was a finalist for the Distell National Playwright Competition. She was a curatorial mentee for “The Voices Of Women’s Museum” and co curated its second virtual exhibition, “Listen Again”. Scout will be an active advocate to advance the Centre’s strategic commitment that all programmes produced by the Centre represent more than 50% participation and engagement by and for women.
