Sizwe Hlophe is a KwaZulu-Natal (Empendle and Port Shepstone) based interdisciplinary artist. He received his MA in Theatre and Performance from the University of the Witwatersrand and BA (hons) in Drama and Performance studies from the University of KwaZulu-Natal. Hlophe has performed and showcased his works on various platforms such as Jomba! Contemporary Dance experience, Dance Umbrella, National arts Festival and Botho Pan African Arts Festival. He is influenced by Afro-Surrealism, African metaphysics, Gender studies, representation, race and Performance studies. Hlophe trained in Dance, Choreography and Live Art with Jay Pather’s Siwela Sonke Dance Theatre. He has also trained in Television and Film production skills with the KwaZulu-Natal Film Commission. He hopes to one day create a space for artists to explore and further their crafts without limitations.
