NEW VOICES OF HOPE, COURAGE & RESILIENCE
In partnership with the Ahmed Kathrada Foundation, the Artfluence Human Rights Festival will bring a group of young people to discuss how the arts have raised their consciousness about human rights. The discussion will be moderated by theatre-maker Lesego Ramatlare (South Africa). It will feature the creator of the Let’s Talk Peace podcast Amanda Haydar (Lebanon), youth journalist Janna Jihad (Palestine), Girls Up activist Sheila Nell Kiggundu (Uganda), community activist Jacques Bona (Burundi / South Africa), author Somto Ihezue Onyedikachi (Nigeria), climate and intersectional activist Raeesah Noor-Mahomed (South Africa), spoken word poet social justice activist Nasirah Kathrada (South Africa), sports activist Sinalo Yekani (South Africa), a youth ambassador for “The Evolvolution Initiative” Joyia Phillips (USA) and a Migrant Protection Consultant for Concern Worldwide, Jade van Huisseling (Netherlands). This programme with the voices of the next generation of human rights defenders will mark the closing of the 2021 Artfluence Human Rights Festival.
