Sukoluhle is a Zulu name that means ‘Beautiful Day’. She was born in of Bulawayo, Zimbabwe in 1978 and was raised and educated there. Sue Nyathi came into being when her third grade teacher was unable to pronounce her full name – she shortened it to ‘Sue’ and the name has stuck ever since. Nyathi began writing at the tender age of 10 and nurtured this passion through her teenage years. On completing her A Levels, it was her intention to study Journalism but at that time, there was no such degree on offer in any Zimbabwean institution of higher learning. Ironically, she found herself reading towards a degree in Finance. Nyathi has since completed a Master’s Degree in Finance and worked for over five years as a research associate for an economic and strategic planning consulting firm in Johannesburg where she currently resides. Nyathi is a freelance writer for the Southern Eye, a weekly publication in which she writes a column called ‘Cross Border Chronicles’. She has also forayed into the world of scriptwriting and will be making her debut in that space for a new televisiondrama. The Polygamist is her debut novel and she has just completed her second novel entitled The Gold Diggers, which will hopefully be published in 2015.
