Joseph Baffrou, or better known as Bee Joe, holds a European Masters in communication, administration and management. He has had a professional career in business over 14 years. Influenced early on by classic French music as well as the tenors of African music, and influenced by the big names of African literature, he began writing in the 1990s, but it was in 2000 that he discovered slam poetry. And it was love at first sight! Since then, Bee Joe swears by his love for words.
He created his first slam show on 25 May 2013. He received the Special Jury Award of the Spoken Word Project. He is the president of the group In the Name of Slam, which includes the spoken word project finalists, Ivory Coast. He frequently organises slam on the street and in pubs with his group. He participated in the Festival Slam Bamako (Mali) in March and was selected to attend the festival in Niamey, Niger from 1-6 September 2014.
