botsotso-mahlaba-south-africaZulu Imbongi Botsotso Mahlaba was born and raised Pietermaritzburg, Kwazulu-Natal. He has been a professional poet for more than ten years and believes that, through his poetry, he can stimulate minds and highlight both the achievements and ills of our society.

In 1996, he was chosen as the best performing poet in a cultural festival organized by Ukhosi FM and in 1997 appeared at the ANC Women's League Women's Day Celebrations at the Union Buildings in Pretoria. Some of his achievements include sharing a stage with poet Mzwakhe Mbuli at Leeukop Prison and praising for Dr Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma and the Premier of KwaZulu-Natal, Sbu Ndebele. Botsotso recently praised at the memorial service for Mazisi Kunene.
