jitsvinger-south-africaJitsvinger (a.k.a Quintin Goliath) is an actor, poet and cultural activist, from Cape Town who released his Afrikaans language debut album Skeletsleutel in 2006. He often combines his poetry with music, whether through backing tracks or playing his guitar. His collaborations with a wide spectrum of artists on community based projects began with his participation in Rouge State of Mind, a South African and Swiss collaboration along with the hip-hop group Godessa in 2004.

Jitsvinger has worked extensively in theatre, performing in youth awareness campaigns on gangsterism and drug abuse in Cape Town as well a two-man play with actor and musician Teba Shumba. He also teaches theatre and facilitated a schools programme with South Africa 's top learners, exploring the history of Robben Island which culminated in creative interpretations through poetry, song, dance and visual art.

Jitsvinger has participated in numerous other events including the Fleur de Cap Awards, Kalkfontein Township Tours , the Voorkamerfest in Darling and the Migration Music Festival held in Taiwan last year. His central concern is promoting the love for vernacular languages, independence and literature.

He comments: “I want to get the reader to know where I am coming from, to get the real situation my people are in, who I believe I represent through my art; the beauty of language and the pride that goes with it; the message in my poetry as well as my growth in it.” Jitsvinger is currently working on his second album.
