Solja Krapu was born in Finland, with Finnish as her first language. When she was fifteen years old, she moved to Umea in Sweden to study, together with her older sister. This is where she became an art teacher, poet and author. Since 1997, Krapu has been performing in Sweden, USA, England, Island, Belarus, Ukraine, Norway, Finland, France and Russia. As a poet, Krapu has won the Swedish Championship in poetry slam several times. In 1997, she was the individual champion, and then the following year, she won Poetry in Motion. In 2005, she won the title of Improvised Poetry. She also writes prose and children's books. The themes Krapu explores in her poetry are near to everyday life, with serious humour.
