Company T42 points out that the great success of Madame Butterfly is not difficult to understand. Madame Butterfly represents a stereotype of the oriental perfect woman, obedient, sweet, pure and faithful; however, a close examination of Madame Butterfly shows mistaken assumptions about our identity. ‘Another Chopsticks Story’ explores the struggle to come to grips with one’s own identity and misconceptions between East &West, and between men & women. Will we ever be able to free ourselves from fantasy dependence forever?

“Tea For Two”

Choreographed and performed by: Misato Inoue and Félix Duméril

Music: Hiroe Yonekawa and Michel Nyman

Dance Coach: Kevin Richmond

“Tea for Two” is an exuberantly energetic duet where language difficulties are humorously overcome through warm-hearted movement that juxtaposes the dancers respective Japanese and French /Swiss cultures.
