Award winning South African Poet Vus’umuzi Phakathi also known as Romeo The Poet/Lil’Hussill, is a writer, performer, facilitator, and producer born 1986, bred and raised In The Vaal Triangle, Gauteng, South Africa. He completed his matric in the year 2003 at Beverly Hills High School, Gauteng, and furthered his studies at the University of the Witwatersrand studying Law (LLB).

Phakathi has performed as at Urban Voices International Festival; Heart of Africa International Festival; the National School of the Arts
Festival of Fame; Sedibeng Poetry Festival (Slam); World wide Reading for Media Freedom in Zimbabwe; the Wits University Arts Experience; the Jozi Spoken word Festival; DFL National Poetry slam; Daddy’s Girls Woman Conference; LGTG Man’s Conference and many more.

Phakathi has also co‐founded a production house named Neo-exodus Presentations, under which he established the movement, The Current State of Poetry. He has facilitated poetry workshops at various highs chools, sessions and camps since 2006, more recently: Another Level Tour Swaziland/Botswana 2012/2013; CSP Poetry Workshops at the Bassline 2011/2014; facilitator at annual Camp Sukuma Swaziland 2014;co‐directorat Prudence Secondary School in Sowet  of or the Joburg Theatre Shakespeare Schools Festival 2013/2014.
