Celiswa Majali was born in Port St. Johns, Eastern Cape Province. Majali is a published author
of a novel entitled Imbali yentombazanana (The Story of aYoung Girl). Her debut fiction novel is written in isiXhosa. Published in 2011 through Vivlia Publishers, ImbaliYentombazanana is used by schools at grade 10 level in the Western Cape and Gauteng Provinces. Majali is currently
registered for her final year in the Bachelor of Arts Honours in Development Studies at the
University of South Africa.

Celiswa fell in-love with creative writing at the very tender age of eleven years old. She continued to write and share her narratives at home, with her mother and siblings.

As a poet, she joined the collective of Young Basadzi Women of Poetry at Bat Centre, a
platform that not only gave her an opportunity to perform her poetry, but also exposed her to
other like-minded individuals and therefore motivated her to keep writing. Her highlights include poetry performance during the former President, Nelson Rholihlahla Mandela's memorial
service in Durban. Her poetry has also been featured in the Centre for the Book (CFB)
Newsletter, October-December 2013 edition. Her debut novel, Imbali Yentombazanana also
features three of her poems.

Celiswa Majali shares her creative writing skill with others through facilitating professional
creative writing programmes, specifically on Novels, Poetry and Short Stories; in English,
isiXhosa and isiZulu languages.
