PLEASE NOTE: These workshops are offered free of charge to participants but booking is essential as places are limited. The workshops are only open to dancers 16yrs and older.
|24 August (Saturday) 10h00 - 12h00 Hélène Cathala (France)|
This movement exploration workshop will be connected to Cathala’s own basis for making dance work; how to be grounded, how to create movement in relation with what you experience in your body … which will include; consciousness, fluidity and writing in space. All levels welcome!
|26 August (Monday) 17h30 - 19h00 Desiré Davids (South Africa)|
Davids will offer a technique calls that will be based on a combination of different techniques that Davids has accumulated over the years and used to inform her work and dance vocabulary. This class is not for beginners – some dance experience necessary!
|29 August (Thursday) 14h00 - 16h00 Francisco Camacho (Portugal)|
Camacho will offer a choreographic workshop focusing on generating movement through improvisation and examining choices when engaging in group interaction. Open to both professional and advanced training dancers as well as performers working in other artistic fields interested in further exploring their creativity.
|1 September (Sunday) 10h00 - 12h00 Fana Tshabalala (South Africa)|
This exploratory workshop will be based on improvisation and we will explore how space, time and themes can play a role in choice of movements. All levels welcome!
|3 September (Tuesday) 17h00 - 19h00 Vusi Makanya (South Africa)|
This is a technique class and is based on an African Contemporary mixture of release technique and traditional dance. All levels and abilities are welcome!
|4 September (Wednesday) 14h00 - 16h00 Félix Duméril (Switzerland)|
This technique class will focus on alignment, weight, clarity of momentum and flow of the movements. The class will begin with warm -up includes working on core strength, flexibility and as well as aiming to align and search for organic energy flow in the body in order to support our connection into space. The class will expand into choreographic structures exploring ways to engage with material through choreographed dance phrases. All levels welcome.
|5 September (Thursday) 17h00 - 19h00 Adriaan Luteijn (Holland)|
Luteijn is the artistic manager and choreographer of Introdans Interactie will conduct a workshop in which participants can have a taste of the world of Introdans(ers), and of course the specific modern repertoire. Some of the works that Introdans performs at JOMBA! will be the inspiration for this dance workshop. All levels welcome!
